Part of the Old Village Store’s mission is to help cultivate and strengthen community. We believe this can be achieved by hosting regular events and programs that foster conversation, revelry, dancing, gathering, listening, learning, thinking, and doing. Thursday, October 15 - Salter: The Improbable Return of the Magical Sea-run Brook Trout to the Little Rivers of Cape Cod with Thomas Pero | 5:30PM-630PM Tom Pero has written the definitive story of the history of sea-run brook trout restoration from the very beginning – in part, because he was there. Fans of any brook trout will be interested in this story – as this history may well be repeated on other brook trout streams. Who knows – possibly this story applies to other types of streams as well. Come join us as Tom talks about his latest book.
Friday, October 16 - Live Music! Liam & Jonny | 530PM-730PM Classic Americana, country-rock and folk-rock songbook of the 60’s & 70’s. Songs from Elvis, Grateful Dead and Chris Isaak, but you also might hear Madonna, the Ventures or Chris Stapleton.
Saturday, October 17 - Film Screening: Rockwell Kent a Documentary by Frederick Lewis | 4PM-7PM Join us and filmmaker Frederick Lewis for an epic screening of the incredible documentary on artist Rockwell Kent. During the 1930s and ‘40s, Rockwell Kent (1882-1971) was one of America’s most famous personalities. The foremost illustrator of his day, he created definitive drawings for literary classics such as Moby Dick, Candide and The Canterbury Tales. Followed by a Q&A with Frederick Lewis, come learn, engage and be enthralled by the story and life of Rockwell Kent.

Thursday, October 29 - Blue Box: Sauna Science with Cape Sauna Club | 6PM-7PM Come listen and learn with Will Kennedy from Cape Sauna Club discuss the science and wellness benefits from the ancient practice of sauna and cold plunge.

Saturday, November 7 - Live Music! Anthony Calla | 530PM-730PM Come hear the lively tunes of country artist Anthony Calla. Raised on his Nana’s love of country and the ’80s and ’90s country his mom played growing up, Anthony Calla has always had music around him. After a personal loss in February 2025, he turned to a guitar and country music to heal. What began as an outlet quickly became a passion, taking Anthony from New England to the Midwest, Nashville, and the Gulf Coast as a singer, songwriter, and performer.
Friday, November 11 - Vinyl Listening Lounge: Jazz Kissa Tokyo Jazz | 5PM-8PM The Vinyl Listening Lounge is back! Join Cape Symphony Presents at The Old Village Store for an evening inspired by Tokyo’s jazz cafés. Rooted in Japan’s jazz kissa tradition, listening lounges bring people together to slow down and appreciate carefully selected records on exceptional sound systems. Settle into a seat, enjoy something delicious, and let the music take center stage. DJ Rhythmryder brings more than 30 years of selecting records, curating music, and shaping audio experiences to this Tokyo jazz session. A high-fidelity sound system paired with the room’s excellent acoustics will bring out the warmth, texture, and detail of every record. Bring a friend and discover your next favorite record. Saturday, November 14 - Words from a Warming World with Julia Cumes, Meera Subramanian & special guests | 5:30PM-630PM The Old Village Store, in partnership with Barnstable Land Trust, invites you to join Cape Cod locals Julia Cumes and Meera Subramanian along with Boston-based Joanna Davidson and Jaelyn Carr for a live storytelling event—à la Moth—about survival and understanding in a climate-changed world. The photographer, journalist, scholar, and activist/energy analyst will share intimate stories of survival, resilience, identity and memory in a time of environmental upheaval. This special event is a local redux version of a spring presentation that happened in Boston at WBUR’s City Space, brought to our very own Old Village Store. From the floodwaters of New Orleans to an elephant in India, hear tales about what we share, what we cherish, what we’re losing, and how we might move forward together.
